Regional aspects are often neglected in the debate on initial vocational training. What is the role of geographical dimensions in vocational education? In her dissertation the author investigates the interaction of region and vocational training. After outlining the theoretical basis, the author presents her empirical research on the question of how vocational education of skilled workers differs with geographic regions, using the field of micro-technology as an example. Another research topic is the regional further education and vocational training networks. The author interviewed apprentices and trainees, instructors and those active in networks, on the relevance of regional aspects of vocational training.
